If you follow me on facebook, you already know about our Harry. But I want to take a moment to formally introduce him to everyone, because you’ll start to see more doggy things happening on here every now and then and it’s all his fault! (We are smitten.)
Almost two months ago now we drove out to the Greyhound Rescue kennels and came home with an extra passenger. His name was Tiger, we renamed him Harry. He is amazing. He is almost 5 years old, and he was never fast enough to earn his previous owners good money, so they gave him the boot. He wasn’t born to be a racer, he was born to one day find his way to us. He is stubborn, oh so cheeky, and totally mad about food. So needless to say, he fits right in here!
If there is ever anything to teach you the joy in small moments, it’s a rescue dog. Especially a Greyhound, who has spent almost 5 years as a racing dog, not living in a home, never knowing love. Give that guy a home, shower him with love, and he will show you happiness. Every morning, Harry greets us with enthusiasm and excitement so big that he can’t keep it all inside. Tail wagging morphs rapidly into full body wagging, he jumps all over the place, and just can’t believe that he has people now. It’s infectious.
Over the next few weeks, I hope to write more about a few topics surrounding Harry’s adoption. My emotions, Tyler’s emotions and behaviour, and of course – how we are feeding our new boy!
But for now, I want to do a quick shout out to a wonderful reader who makes doggy coats. Heidi of Seams and Beams sent Harry an amazing custom-made coat, and he just loves it!
He looks just stunning in it, and I love the streamlined fit that you only get with a made-to-measure coat. Both Harry and I love the longer neck on it, to keep him extra snuggly and warm on those cold days and early morning/late night wee runs!
But my favourite thing about the Seams and Beams coat has to be the velcro closure! The first coat we got has a tie that loops under the belly and up to be tied on top of his back. It looks a bit funny, to be honest. But the velcro closure on our Seams and Beams coat, on the other hand, is done up on the side and you hardly even notice it. Oh, and the belt sits nice and snug on the underside of the belly so that it will never, er, get in the way of business!
Make sure you head over to the Seams and Beams website to check out the other wonderful pooch products on offer (I’m thinking Harry would look killer in one of the doggy bandanas with a seriously spunky pattern!). Heidi is currently running a dogwear giveaway too, ending in just one week – head over to the Seams and Beams facebook page to enter.
And keep your eyes peeled here for more about the healthiest dog in town!

I am so glad Harry likes his new coat! He looks fabulous, and I’m so pleased he now has a lovely family to share his life with. Can’t wait to hear more about Harry and his healthy food choices. (-:

Tiger!! omg I cannot believe it! 😀
We were the original owners of Tiger, we bred him and raced him, and we were going to keep him, but we already had 3 retirees living in our house on our beds, after we sent Tiger, and never heard anything more of him again, we were regretting sending him away once again, because we like to know what happens with our greys once they go to new homes!
I really hope that you would like to keep contact with us, and let us know how Tiger is going ^_^ He is such a sweet boy who was just a big baby!
I understand that you think that we are bad people for racing him, but know something, we do love our dogs, and sending Tiger to Sydney was one of the hardest things ever! We did have him living inside for a short time before his trip to NSW.
All we want is to here how he is going, I know he must be so happy being able to move on to his next stage in life a typical couch potato haha

And thankyou for giving him a loving home! ^_^
